After 15 Months In Shelters, Blind Dog Finally Experiences The Joy Of Running Freely In His Own Field
When a dog joins a shelter, the staff and volunteers normally seek to find an appropriate placement for him as soon as possible, whether in a foster family or in a loving permanent home.
However, rescue placements are not always done quickly, and in slaughter shelters, dogs that do not find a home soon enough are brutally put to sleep.
Dogs that do not find a home are sometimes kept in kennels in shelters without killing for weeks or months until a family comes to adopt them.
When a 5-year-old blind Collie called Jacko came to Many Tears Animal Rescue, the staff hoped that he would soon be adopted. However, the days became weeks, then months, and Jacko stayed at the kennel.
The rescue became even more motivated over time to find Jacko a loving home that belongs to him. But it would not be simple.
According to the rescue, Jacko is “extremely affectionate and loving with the people he knows, but can be suspicious of those he doesn’t know.”They also said that Jacko really needs a family of his own, but they wouldn’t give it to just anyone. They wanted him to go to a house that suited him well.
“Jacko hopes to live as a single dog with a special person and would like a rural house with a huge garden where he can run freely”” the rescue said.
After 15 months, the big day arrived: Jacko had been adopted!
The news was relayed on TikTok by the rescue, who said “”Very good news about our beloved Jacko! After a year of waiting for the staff to come to him throughout the day, patiently waiting for hugs, stories and secret cheese, Jacko finally gets to run free in his own field, with his own human. Every day!”
“He now has unlimited freedom, a committed owner and even furry buddies!”says the rescue. No one deserves it more than our sweet Jacko. “Congratulations on your adoption!”
