After losing his dog, this man adopts all overlooked animals from shelter

Ever since he can remember, Steve Grieg loved animals and he’d always shared his home with them. However, with one of his dogs he formed an incredible bond. Therefore, when his beloved pup passed away, Steve was devastated. “A month or two went by and I still felt so horrible about it,” he recalls.

But then he decided there is only one way to honor his late four-legged companion. So, Steve went to the local shelter and asked for the “least adoptable” dog. “So [I adopted] a 12-year-old Chihuahua [named Eeyore] with a heart murmur and four bad knees and I brought him home,” Steve told The Dodo. “And that was just the beginning of all the animals.”

And from then on, the kind man is visiting the local shelters in Denver Colorado to adopt all animals who can’t find a home. Right now, he shares his home with ten dogs (mostly seniors), a pig (who thinks he’s a dog), a mini horse, two cats, some chickens, a couple of ducks and there are many more to come.

“I grew up with a lot of pets,” he told The Dodo. “Both my parents were animal lovers and they pretty much always let me have whatever I wanted as long as I could take care of it.”

“A normal day for me is getting up at 5 a.m. in the morning and making breakfast for all of them, which, you know, there’s 10 [dogs] and most of them have different diets,” Steve says. “You kind of know what you want out of life once you become a certain age. These dogs know who they are and it’s easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are.”

A few time ago, Steve decided to start an Instagram page so people to be able to see his “wolf gang.” So far, they have almost 900,000 followers.
