Man quits his job to travel the world with his rescue ferret companion

Charlie Hammerton, a 25-year-old man from Cornwall, UK, was having such a rough time. In a short period of time, the young man lost the most important persons in his life, including his mom and his best friend. Charlie started to suffer from depression and nothing seemed to help him to get through these difficult times.

Fortunately, Charlie’s help was cute ferret he had rescued and his desire to travel around the world. So he quit his job as an RAF (Royal Air Force) airman, sold everything he had and started to visit the world with Bandit, his furry fella.

“I went through a really rough time and developed serious depression,” Charlie said. “A chain of bad things had happened to me…but I decided that was not what I wanted to be. I sold the lot and just took off. I channelled the negative energy and turned it into something positive.”

The duo, which inevitably became inseparable buddies, has started they European trip in a camper-van back in February 2018. And since then, Charlie and Bandit have visited more than 25 cities in 11 countries, including Germany, Sweden, Norway, France or Spain and according to them, their adventure doesn’t stop here.

“Travelling was the most amazing experience of my life and it was completely liberating,” Charlie said. “We followed the sun across the world and camped under the stars in amazing places. It was incredible to do it with Bandit. He has seen me at my best and my worst and has always been with me. Bandit has been with me through thick and thin.

Charlie admits he’s now a completely different person and traveling helped him to start a new life. It even changed they way he use to think. “The trip was completely liberating and I really did have an amazing experience,” he said. He has even written a book. Called ‘Before Our Adventures,’ the book talks about how a terrible, hopeless situation could be turned around if you trust yourself!

“The book is all about how you can take anything bad and turn it into something really good – everyone has the right and the ability to do that,” Charlie said.
